Turkey’s Top Exporting Countries

WHAT IS EXPORT?

Export, also known as export, is the process of selling goods produced in one country or supplied from a different country to different countries. So, what are export and import? How important is it for the country’s economy?

Export is one of the most important factors of the foreign trade balance, as it is of great importance for the country’s economy. Export is a trade made in exchange for foreign currency and is the biggest source of foreign currency input to the country. In the foreign trade balance, export and import are two opposite concepts and they constantly balance each other.

While the high export in foreign trade creates a big plus for the country’s economy, it means economic loss in countries with high imports. Because while there is foreign exchange inflow in exports, there is foreign exchange outflow in imports. That’s why countries always give importance to their exports.

TURKEY’S TOP EXPORTING COUNTRIES

The ranking of the countries to which Turkey exports is important in terms of shaping the operations as well as indicating advantageous markets. Because the market conditions and legal processes of each country are different. Therefore, when answering the question of how to export, it is necessary to consider the characteristics of the relevant country.

This may make a difference in terms of documents required for export. Because the customs procedures applied in every country are not the same. While this is the case, during the determination of e-export strategies for that region, the time and effort to bespent for the collection of documents and the budget to be allocated should also be taken into consideration.

GERMANY

It is difficult to say that it is surprising that Germany ranks first in the export ranking on a country basis. It is quite understandable that there is a high demand for the products manufactured in our country in Germany, which also holds the title of being the country where the most Turks live abroad.

As of 2021, the total amount of exports from our country to Germany reached 17 billion 705.4 million dollars, reaching its historical peak. When we look at the most sold product groups in this country, we see automotive, ready-made clothing, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, respectively. In the light of all these data, it can be concluded that Germany is the most ideal country for e-export to Europe.

UNITED KINGDOM

The United Kingdom ranks second in the ranking of the countries that Turkey exports the most. It can easily be said that England is the commercial locomotive of these states, which include countries such as the Republic of Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Moreover, this applies not only to traditional sales, but also to commercial activities conducted over the Internet. The UK is one of the countries with the largest e-commerce volume in Europe. As of 2020, approximately 49 million people living in the UK have shopped online.

Just like Germany, automotive is at the top of the list of products we sell to the UK, followed by textiles. Considering that the most purchased product group over the internet in England is clothing and shoes, we can easily say that textile products can be preferred for e-export operations for this country.

UNITED STATE OF AMERİCA

America, which is the fifth country with the highest number of Turks abroad, is also a region with a very high potential for e-export. It is possible to say that the primary reason for this is the amount of online sales in the country. The total volume of the e-commerce industry in America has exceeded 870 million dollars as of 2021.

In addition, the commercial relations between America and Turkey are in an upward trend. The country with the highest increase in Turkey’s export figures in 2021 is the United States. This data shows that the country in question is an ideal market for e-exports.

ITALY

The e-commerce volume in Italy, one of the countries to which Turkey exports the most, reached $26 billion in 2021. Considering that this figure indicates an increase of 17% compared to the previous year, it can be concluded that Italy is a growing market that can be preferred for e-exports.

The total amount of products exported by Italy from Turkey has exceeded the threshold of 10 billion dollars for the same year. When we look at the subject on a sectoral basis, food products such as motor vehicles, machinery, iron and steel and fruit are at the top of the export list.

SPAIN

Spain bears serious similarities to Italy in terms of the size and course of the e-commerce sector. In 2021, the total of online sales is $27 million, with an annual increase of 17%. From this point of view, it would not be wrong to say that this country is an ideal market for e-exports.

Turkey has exported approximately 9 billion 242 million dollars to Spain in the last year. Automotive, textile, iron-steel and petroleum oils take the lead in these processes.

WHAT IS TURKEY’S EXPORT VOLUME?
